radio television books - it's a media explosion

thith may not be very nithe or politically correct to thay, but people with thpeech impedimentth thhould not be allowed to thpeak on the radio. tonight, on the local public radio thtation, a female reporter with a lithp wath reporting, and the lithp wath very dithtracting. i had to turn the thound down.

watching the country music awards on teevee and would like to say that once again, nashville has proved that it cannot put on a live national production with well-mixed music. they do not have the voices turned up enough somehow, and the singers are getting drowned out by the music. poor li'l taylor swift trying to sing that romeo & juliet song, and you know she is barely hangin' in there b/c it is a tough song - the last thing they need to do is shortchange her sound. now, here's kid rock singing that sweet home bamalama remake song, and it just sounds flat. i think they don't have the mics for the singers set to echo or whatever you call it. you know how a mic can make you sound like you are singing in a superiorly accoustic tiled room, and sometimes they can deaden your voice flat? well, these mics are flattening the voices. where are all the good sound mixers, and why are none of them in nashville, a.k.a. music city?

started a new book - the first in the pendragon series. so far, it's moving a wee bit too fast, but then - i think that is sort of the point. i mean, this kid is thrown into totally unexpected circumstances, and that is the plot so far, so moving fast is probably a device meant to make the reader feel as overwhelmed as the main character, but unless it slows down & some explanations are given, it will just become tiring, no fun at all. we shall see, eh? the last book i tried, i didn't like, and i just quit reading it. life it too short to waste time on leisure that is not leisurely. i didn't even put that one on the list. read a few pages, and found it to be pretentious. every line had the feel of an inside joke i was not in on. so, i showed that author - i didn't read another line! ha!
