settle down, little lady

did you hear about that three-year-old who threw a fit getting on the airtran flight? she was screaming, crying, crawling under the seats, and hitting her parents. she refused to get in her seat, and until everyone's seated, the flight can't leave the gate. so... the crew escorted the family off the plane. if you're kicked off a plane, you have to wait 24 hours to get on another plane, which the family did not know.

the family was on the news, and the three year old really looked quite a bit smaller than her parents. pretty sure they could have controlled her - as in, forced her into the seat. or, they could have gotten off the plane voluntarily. getting kicked off would seem to me to be the least desirable option, but they had to have seen it coming - had to have been given a warning by the flight crew.

so, they didn't want to force the child into the seat... then, they can't ride the plane. there's no choice about getting in your seat on the plane, although there is a choice about getting on a plane or not. they did apparently get on a plane the next day without incident.

not sure this is making sense... feel like i'm blathering this morning. bottom line? parents are responsible for disciplining their children and encouraging good behaviour. the kids are not in charge, and it's shirking parental responsibility to leave it up to the kids to control themselves.
