a fairly good fair

went to the county fair today with mini-me. that's right - the county fair. we saw produce & livestock - ginormous tomatoes, ginormous rabbits, ginormous horns on the longhorn steer. we examined 4-h projects and petted alpacas. we tasted fresh lemonade and listened to blue grass music. we rode the ferris wheel, the matterhorn [ha, ha, j/k - it was the himalayan], the alpine bobs, the ion, and the bumper cars. the ferris wheel & the himalayan we rode 2x each ride -- that is, when the ride was over, we just sat there and asked do we have to get off?, and the carneys would just give in & let us ride again. we got the carney running the ion ride to turn on the lights on the ride. the trick is that we were just nice & asked them sweetly. carneys don't have a lot of teeth, i noticed, so i am fairly certain they liked the attention. at any rate, it got us what we wanted - free rides.

overall, it was going to be a fine day at the fair, but something else happened that made it a spectacular day. mini-me won 2 ribbons in the photo contest! w00t! yeah, she is quite talented. she must come from a solid gene pool.
