the kid in this movie reminds me of my brother

here is something i wanted to talk to you about - what not to say in emails at work.

-- don't use slang like yeppers, nopers, and whatevs. save it for fb or myspace or your piddly li'l blog nobody reads. in business correspondence, it does not make you appear hip to use slang - it makes you appear clueless. not only clueless about business and how to communicate businessly, but also clueless about slang b/c those words are out as soon as they are in. drop 'em.

-- don't use abbreviations like b/c or ppl or u that are supposed to be hip. w/ is okay - it's been around forever. approx is okay. fyi, info, asap - all okay. just don't use anything supposably new & funky. fyi - see above for info on cluelessness.

-- don't use numbers in place of words. i really should not have 2 explain this 4 u.

-- don't whine about how long an assignment took you to put together. i actually got this in email today: although it was very time consuming, i put this document together for you and hope you find it helpful. for realz, yo? time-consuming? it's your freakin' job. stop whining about how it takes time to do your job.

-- don't confuse its, it's, there, their, they're, your, you're. you know the drill. grammar rox.

-- don't tell your boss everything. ;-) and, take it easy on the smilies.
