okay, okay.... let's wrap this up

a couple days ago, we reviewed a list of 25 skills every guy should master, according to popular mechanics, and yesterday, i went over part of the list, indicating which items i thought should be included on a list of lifeskills that every grown adult person should master. i'm going to try to go ahead and wrap this up by providing a list of 25 lifeskills every adult should master. i am just going to run down the list here without explanations. if you have questions, comments, objections, deletions, additions, or in any way do not understand and/or wish to change the list, leave a comment which i will ignore. these are not necessarily in order of importance.

every adult should know how to:

- swim
- manually propel a watercraft
- protect a computer, including disaster prevention & data back up
- sharpen a knife
- back up a car, truck, and trailer
- build & light a campfire
- fix a flat tire -- on both bicycle & automobile
- navigate with a map & compass
- perform cpr
- maneuver a car out of a skid
- get a car unstuck
- patch a radiator hose
- wash, dry, & fold clothes
- pitch a tent
- prepare & cook a hot meal
- repair torn clothing, popped seams, loose or lost buttons
- make hotel, airplane, & rental car reservations
- prepare & keep a monthly household budget
- balance a checkbook
- build a treehouse
- cut [another person's] hair
- clean & bandage a shallow wound, blister, or scrape
- read an analog watch
- make change
- write a personal or business letter, address an envelope or package

what about knowing how to drive a stick shift?

and deal with a blown fuse

and ride a bike

and generally, not just set up hdtv, but set up electronics in general. i know many a people who don't know how to set up a computer, a vcr, a stereo, etc.

and...more will come to me.
