snedeker!!

you watching the masters? snedeker's in 2nd place right now, a couple shots behind immelman. and, here's a tidbit -- immy was rookie of the year in 2006, and sneddy was in '07. fascinating.

the rental for this weekend is the mazda5. zoom zoom! i thought it was a sporty little hatchback, like the vibe or the matrix, but it is really a confused little vehicle. it cannot decide whether it is a minivan or a sporty car. it has rear captains chairs and a full-across third seat, but it is relatively short, ending right behind the third seat. it has sliding back doors on both sides - which are very minivanesque. the rear capts chair are short & narrow, as are the front seats, but the back ones... they are sort of pretentious. it is as if the car is saying - i gots capts chairs in back! - but they are not real capts chairs. kind of a cheat. also, since the vehicle ends directly behind the third seat, you're forced to choose between cargo & passengers. not really a full solution to either issue. the front seats are "okay" on room, but as i said - narrow. there is not enough leg room in the driver's area for my old man's comfort. but, see... the vehicle is long, so you'd think there would be room. an inch or so would make a great deal of difference, but they have spent the space elsewhere. like - okay, the vehicle does not end directly behind the third seat - there are a couple totally useless inches back there. why not use them up front? bottom line - this vehicle needs to decide if it is a sporty li'l car, or a mini-van.
