it was one of those days.

so there i was today, walking along the sidewalk, when the security guard at the building across from mine goes, "sure looks funny seein' you walkin'. why ain't you runnin' today?"

"i ran a marathon yesterday," i answered. "so i am taking a break today."

then, he asks, "how far did you go?" now that usually ticks me off b/c a marathon=26.2 - always! but, he is a sweet old man, so i just smiled & said, "26 miles."

he goes, "26 miles! my, my...," shaking his head, "how did you do?"

"i finished," i said.

and, he smiled & said, "oh, now. sho! you keep on tryin', and one day, you gonna win!"

the funny thing is, on a day like today, i could almost believe him.
